Legend says that the name of Telamon comes straight from ‘hero greek Telamon, son of Aeacus and Endeïs, brother of the father of Achilles, Peleus. Says that Telamon has landed here on the way back from Calabria and is buried just below the fortress.

Today Talamone preserved its traditional fishing village fortified. The harbor is dominated by the Rocca Aldobrandesca of the 13th century. The fort was abandoned and destroyed several times over the centuries. In the late 16th century, the Sienese rebuilt as we see it today. It stands out clearly on top of the rocky hill above the village.
